Recorded at home as for some reason, I could not locate the recording done at SPAM (St Paul's Arts & Media) in Auckland. Part 2 gives an in-depth look at the subject while Part 3 workshops it a bit.
What are the details of God’s Kingdom for your job? What does the bible say about your work or creativity? How can you build a theology as a film maker? This podcast covers the context for where we are today and a simple framework for developing a living theology of your work in life.
This is the group process of the theology mapping using ‘story telling’ as the theme or craft. (sorry, the sound is not that great)
This is the first of a multi part series on creative or content development. It was delivered at the School of Digital Film Making in Brisbane Australia.
The idea is to deal with two major issues. One is the filters and agenda’s we carry with us when it comes to creating as Christians. The second is how to bring God into the creative development in a healthy way without reverting to the baggage of evangelical thinking.
The second part of the series on Content Development, this shorter piece focuses on how we use our heart, soul, mind and strength to develop the art, or story...
Part 3 of the series on content development, we look at the various influences of our lives and how we filter these either to form didactic agendas or healthy tools towards developing an honest art.
Part 2 of the teaching covers some historic examples Christians effecting the culture of slavery etc. We also look at the Christian culture of happiness and our growing schizophrenia.
Recorded at Axiom in New Haven, we discuss how culture is developed, how God does it and some historical examples of Godly people changing the way we think and act as society.
The final part in this series, we finish up a few examples of amzingness and then look at how we can do more of the same.
The students fight back! This session is mostly questions about the main premise of meeting basic needs vs. “preaching the gospel”. It’s kinda interesting.
Part 2 of this teaching starts with a long intro about how hard it is to be yourself, and change the world... then we carry on with some great examples of people doing amazing things. My hope is that we can learn from these and take the six concerns of Jesus seriously.
So now that we’re living 'in the future', how do we move past the baggage of the last century’s views on missions and evangelism? This series will focus on the six concerns of Jesus in Matthew 25, show a number of amazing examples and challenge us to stop play outreach games.
Recorded in Brisbane, we talk about why emerging culture is taking so long to show up? We also look at the walls this generation faces in extending the Kingdom of God or even just surviving...
Hanging out with Taylor Maxwell and crew at the School of Worship in Orlando Florida, we’re trying to break down what worship is all about. We also look at the motives and practices of the “worship leader”, so as to get a better understanding on music, artistry, spirituality and interacting with audiences.
Furthering our conversation about “leading worship”, we talk about a lifestyle that creates a rich environment which may lead to the writing and performing of better songs, art etc. Either way, we need to go deeper as people into the pain and beauty of the life around us.
This is the second part of the ‘worship as a lifestyle’ section which is part 3 of 6 of the overall conversation on worship.
The next piece in this series covers some ideas about making room in your life to create, being intentional about the context you live in so that what you make ain’t pop.
Part 5 of this series on thanks, praise and worship, we discuss putting in the effort to become amazing at what you do.
Further to the Sojourn process, we discuss five ways of making an impact in the places God has called us into. This includes some tips from Dave Andrews crew working in the West End of Brisbane.
Recorded in Dublin at Sojourn, this is a series of discussions on fellowship and culture. Ferg and Saj Brown invited a bunch of us to get together with their friends and workshop how to network God’s people in a city towards cultural growth and transformation.
